Effective September 24, 2007, all restaurant scores are based upon violations listed in California Food Code (CFR). The scoring is similar to the previous system and all food establishments are required to post their inspection reports for public viewing.

Environmental Health Inspectors inspect over 7,000 locations including restaurants, bars, markets, bakeries, pushcarts, stadium food facilities and any other facility that serves food to the public.
