Goals
The Health Education Training Center (HETC) trains employees of the San Francisco Department of Public Health and employees and volunteers of other institutions and community organizations in order to achieve a healthy San Francisco. The HETC fosters professional development for new and experienced health educators and public health workers.
Registration & Fees
We are unable to accept electronic fee payment at this time. Please make your check out to the San Francisco Public Health Foundation. You may either bring it with you to the event or mail it to: HETC 30 Van Ness Ave. Suite 2300, San Francisco, CA 94102.
Register early and at least one week in advance. We confirm by letter or email with location information. SFDPH staff are encouraged to register online at the DPH Intranet site (under Training/HETC). For Brown Bag movie events, advance registration is appreciated but not required. Registration for most events is free. For events with fees, we charge 20% for refunds. No refunds are given less than a week before events.
Disability Information
HETC holds workshops that are accessible to nursing mothers and persons with disabilities. If you require assistance, accommodation, or alternative formats, please contact us at least 72 hours before the event. Attendees at all public meetings are reminded not to wear cologne or other scented products. Continuing Education (C.E.)
C.E. units are offered through the organizations listed below. C.E. units are available free for SFDPH staff, and for $5 each for non-DPH staff:
NURSES: The California Board of Registered Nursing has approved the SFDPH-Community Health Education Section (CHES) as a provider (#CEP3548) of C.E. for RN and LVN.
SOCIAL WORKERS: The California Board of Behavioral Sciences has approved the SFDPH-CHES as a provider (#PCE1389) of C.E. for MFT, LCSW, and LPT.
HEALTH EDUCATORS: The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. has designated SFDPH-CHES as a provider (#CA0039) of C.E. for CHES.
